About

Castar is an actor–casting matching platform. Producers and casting directors post casting calls; actors keep profiles with their basic details, skills and photos; and Castar’s search connects the two. The Castar team designs, builds and operates the platform.

About this blog

This is where we write about how the platform works: how a free-text casting call becomes search conditions, how we deal with appearance and impression, and the trade-offs behind those choices. We try to describe what we actually do, including the parts that are still rough.

Examples in these posts are fictional. We don’t publish actors’ names, photos or profile data here.
